The research in which the candidate participated can be classified into two closely related groups by topic and methodology. At first, the research work of Jelena Đorović Jovanović was focused on examining the structure and antioxidant activity of natural phenolic compounds, while her further examination include the antioxidant and prooxidative properties of synthetic phenolic compounds – Schiff’s bases and their complexes with metals. Later research work was focused on examining the antioxidant activity of natural and synthetic compounds, as well as examining their interaction with proteins. Current research includes testing the inhibitory capacity of various compounds (antioxidants and drugs) and their interaction with proteins. Molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulations are used to study protein-ligand interactions.
