The research of Dr. Katanić Stanković is focused on the phytochemical and pharmacological characterization of medicinal plant extracts, fruits of native varieties and their products. In addition, other biologically active natural products are being investigated as potential sources of new medicinal principles and dietary supplements. The phytochemical profile is analyzed using modern chromatographic techniques, such as HPTLC, HPLC, LC-MS and GC-MS. The biological and pharmacological potential of the samples is examined in different systems, in vitro, in vivo and in silico conditions, with special focus on antioxidant activity, redox status and anti-inflammatory effects. Further research will, among other things, be focused on examining the influence of selected medicinal plant species in the prevention and treatment of gynecological diseases, as well as the effects on the reproductive system in general. The ultimate goal is to reach products with high biological potential that can be used in the prevention or treatment of various diseases, as well as in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic and food industries.
